Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where is Belmont Mansion located?
Belmont Mansion is located on the campus of Belmont University at the intersection of Acklen Avenue & Belmont Boulevard, Nashville, TN 37212. We have visitor parking immediatly to the west of our entrance near a gazebo. Additional visitor parking is availavle on Belmont Boulevard near the Lila D. Bunch Library and the Leu Center for Visual Arts, as well as a lot by the Hitch building near Belmont Boulevard and Portland Avenue. Please note that the mansion is on the interior of the univeristy campus and is not visible from Wedgewood Avenue or Magnolia Avenue. Please do not park next door at Morningside at Belmont retirement home. That is not part of the campus.

  • Are there campus activites or construction projects that might impact my wedding or event?
Yes. We are completing a major restoration of our event space, the Grand Salon. The bulk of the work was completed by the end of March 2019, but additional work will continue through 2021.  The mansion is an historic site and working house museum, so restoration is an ongoing part of our work. There is almost always something being repaired or restored. Belmont Mansion is surrounded by the campus of Belmont University. Due to our location on the campus, we do not offer outdoor wedding ceremonies or receptions. Additionally, there may be large events on campus that affect access to parking. We try to avoid booking weddings or events at the mansion that would overlap with large events on the north side of campus, such as concerts in the Massey Performing Arts Center. If you are concerned about a large event at the university impacting the mansion, you can view the university's event calendar online.

  • What is the new Tennessee Law for Wedding Officiants?
As of July 1, 2019, the State of Tennessee's new law clarifying the qualifications to serve as a wedding officiant take effect. This law clearly states that online ordination is not acceptable for persons wishing to solemnize weddings in Tennessee. Please note that Rev. Brandon Rich, Director of Weddings & Rentals was licensed to ministry in June 1998 and ordained to the ministry on March 12, 2000 by First Baptist Church of Nashville, TN. Rev. Rich trained for the ministry at Southwestern Baptist Theoligical Seminary in Fort Worth, TX and has served several churches on staff as senior pastor, interim pastor and minister of music. Not only does Rev. Rich meet and exceed the legal quailifications to officiate a wedding, he has officiated and coordinated over 6,000 weddings in five states, giving him depth and breath of expericne that is virtulaly unparralelled. If you do not have a qualified officiant  for your traditional wedding ceremony at the mansion, you can upgrade your contract for Rev. Rich to officiate. Please note that outside officiants are not permitted in our elopement bookings. You must have a Tennessee Marriage License for a wedding in Tennessee. You may not bring a marriage license from anywhere outside of Tennessee. It is the couple's responsibility to obtain and bring all pages of the TN license to the wedding.

  • Can we just drop in to preview the mansion for our wedding or event?
No. You must contact the Director of Weddings & Rentals to discuss availability and reveiw package options and other key details first. If we have availability for your wedding or event in your preferred date range, if our guidelines are acceptable to you, the Director will schedule a preview visit for you for a qualifying event. We do not offer venue previews for our three smallest elopement packages. We will schedule previews only for our Getaway Plus Elopement and the Friends & Family Elopement. Please note that the Director of Weddings & Rentals does not keep regular office hours. He supervises all Belmont Mansion weddings, plus he officiates many weddings and events off-site. He is able to conduct preivews and meetings during mansion tour hours, in the evenings, and on weekends based on availability and by appointment only. If you show up at the mansion without an appointment during museum hours, you will be instructed to contact the Director of Weddings & Rentals to make an apointment. Our musuem staff is on site to conduct paid historical interpretation tours of the museum and answer questions about the history of the family that built and lived in the mansion. They are not equipped or trained  to answer wedding or event rental questions, nor do they have access to our event calenar.

  • How do we make a wedding or rental preview appointment?
All rental and wedding preview visits must be scheduled in advance with the Director of Weddings & Rentals. Drop-in visits are not possible due to staffing and parking considerations. You may schedule an appointment by contacting the Director of Weddings & Rentals, Rev. Brandon Rich. You may call or text the Director between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM (Central U.S. time) Monday - Saturday, and after 2PM on Sundays, or email him 24/7.
